These 3 arrangements cost me less than $45!!!

Who doesn’t love fresh beautiful flowers?! I love receiving and sending beautiful vases of flowers, but they can be very expensive. I recently discovered that Trader Joe’s has gorgeous, fresh flowers that are very affordable!

Flowers

Trader Joe’s sells these bunches of flowers for around $3.99 - $12.99 each.

I got the following:

  • 2 bunches of Hydrangeas (comes with 2 stems each)

  • 1 bunch of tulips (7 stems)

  • 2 bunches of assorted flowers (I like getting assorted flowers because they normally come with a few roses and filler flowers I can rearrange)

Unwrap & sort flowers

Cut the plastic wrappers and organize similar flowers on top of the wrapper for easy clean up. The flowers should come with food solution powder so I fill the vases halfway with water and pour the solution and stir.

Cut stems

Since I’m working with clear vases, I like to trim any dead pieces and remove most of the leaves so it doesn’t touch the water. Cut each stem at an angle. I normally like to cut hydrangeas just enough to where the bottom flowers barely touch the vase rim.

Arrange the flowers

I like to start with hydrangeas or the biggest flowers first because they take up most of the space and provide support for the other flowers. Then move to the more vibrant flowers I want to show case. Space them out so there’s room to fill in the gaps with the filler flowers.

Tip: to get the flowers to stay fresh and vibrate, you should change out the water with cold water and add a spoon of sugar. Your flowers will thank you!

Quick instructions:

  • Sort flowers

  • Fill vases halfway with cold water and flower food or spoon of sugar

  • Trim stems at a 45 degree vertical angle

  • Start by placing bigger flowers in the vase

  • Place more vibrant flowers next

  • Fill in the gaps with filler flowers last

  • Change water & add food flower or spoon full of sugar every 2-3 days to keep them fresh

** FYI I’ve never been a florist. I am a complete amateur, but this method has worked for me through trial and error! If you have any tips please PLEASE send them my way!!
